GA-06: Khizr Khan Endorses Jon Ossoff (D) In Brand New Ad

A special election will be held on June 20, 2017, to determine the member of the United States House of Representatives for Georgia’s 6th congressional district. Republican Incumbent Tom Price resigned from the seat following his appointment and confirmation as the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Trump Administration. A primary election occurred on April 18, 2017.

Dailykos.com: Khizr Khan – the gold star father of Captain Humayun Khan who was killed in Iraq in 2004 – has returned to the campaign trail to cut an endorsement ad for Jon Ossoff.

You may remember Khan as the father who delivered what became the most remembered speech of the 2016 Democratic National convention, in which he offered then-candidate Donald Trump a copy of his United States Constitution. Khan later told the story of his son’s death in one of the most watched political ads of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Khan’s endorsement ad for Ossoff is much less gut-wrenching than the ad he appeared in for Clinton.

In his endorsement video, Khan says that contrary to what some critics say, Ossoff won’t be a puppet for Nancy Pelosi. “On June 20th, Georgia has the power to vote for fresh leadership,” Khan says. “To put an independent voice in Washington who cares about you and your families, and who will be accountable, not to a party but to the people who elected him.”

Khan continues, by picking up his criticism of Trump once again. “Jon Ossoff understands that we cannot solve our problems by building walls or sowing division,” he says. “America needs more leaders like Jon Ossoff in Washington. Leaders who united instead of divide us, and who will fight for our Constitutional rights.”
