Former federal NDP MP Svend Robinson is expected to announce a return to politics on Tuesday. Telford said Robinson making an announcement on Tuesday could help Singh, because Singh is an outsider and Robertson brings “cachet to the riding and to Jagmeet Singh.” Robinson’s political career came crashing down in early 2004 when he admitted to stealing a valuable ring from an auction house a few months before the federal election. Robinson, a lawyer, attempted a comeback in the 2006 federal election when he ran for the NDP against Liberal Hedy Fry in the Vancouver Centre riding.
