Should students enter politics? Kamal and Rajini have two very different views

While Rajini urged students to not indulge in politicking, Kamal said that students owe to their nation to remain politically vigilant. “I ask you the same question former President APJ Abdul Kalam asked. I’m not asking you to become politicians. I ask you to carefully watch your politics. On the other hand, Rajinikanth, addressing students at MGR University, said, “I ask students not to participate in politics. “Because students of my generation failed to stay vigilant about politics, I believe we are in this situation right now. “I thought I'm an artist … I’ll stay away and let them do their job. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth said that he had decided to enter the fray to fill the vacuum the state was seeing: “They ask why I didn't enter when Jayalalithaa was ruling. Did I come to politics because of a vacuum? There is a vacuum ... for a good leader.

There is a vacuum in TN politics and I am here to fill it:...

While acknowledging that there cannot be another MGR for another 1000 years, Rajini noted, “MGR was a yuva purusha and even after 1000 years there can't be another person like him. I have the confidence to replicate MGR's good governance. They asked me to first speak to CM MGR. MGR has spoken to YG(Mahendra), Latha's brother and assured them(the family) that I'd take care of her well, though I'm short tempered.” Rajinikanth also said that MGR helped him get the documents for the construction of his Raghavendra wedding hall within 3 days. Addressing questions about his brand of politics, Rajinikanth once again explained the meaning of his oft-quoted 'spiritual politics’. Many say actors shouldn't enter politics as politicians don't enter politics. But you haven't done your work properly.” In an appeal vastly different from many other political leaders including actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, Rajini urged students not to get involved in politics. “I ask students not to participate in politics. In yet another contrary position to his Dravidian counterparts, Rajinikanth advised students to learn more languages. So later when they put me in English medium I became an average student.
