Joy of new citizenship for Russian, Iranian immigrants overshadows tense international relations

Svetlana Palamodova Rolston, a 38-year-old native of Russia, also became a citizen Thursday. Rolston has been here 18 years. She moved back to Russia to work at The Biomedical Center in St. Petersburg, where HIV vaccine research is ongoing. "I have spent so much time in the United States and have seen all the different parts... and that has actually influenced my decision," to apply for citizenship, she said.
