Drudge slams Washington Post for ‘Russian operative’ implication

Matt Drudge slammed The Washington Post for a story published Friday that analyzed Drudge Report, his news aggregation site, for what the paper called regularly linking to "Russia propaganda" during the 2016 presidential campaign. Drudge, who hadn't featured a photo of himself on his Twitter account, also changed his profile picture to one of him reading the Washington Times while sitting on a park bench. "I've linked to @washingtonpost over 10,000X in 25 years of doing DRUDGEREPORT," Drudge wrote to his 546,000 followers. "I currently give them 37% of their referral traffic, according to http://similarweb.com. It's a brutal business. Instead: YOU'RE A RUSSIAN OPERATIVE!" The Post analysis cites conspiracy theorist Alex Jones's Infowars, RT (formerly known as Russia Today) and Sputnik News as three sites Drudge frequently links to on his site. "DrudgeReportArchives captures an image of the Drudge Report every two minutes, as it has for 16 years," the analysis reads. Drudge's tweet came about one hour after another tweet touting President Trump's approval rating climbing to 46 percent in a right-leaning Rasmussen poll. Drudge often deletes his tweets 24 hours after posting them.
