Former federal NDP MP Svend Robinson is expected to announce a return to politics on Tuesday.
“That’s the rumour,” said political scientist Hamish Telford.
On Monday, the federal NDP media centre put out a release stating Robinson — who was an MP in Burnaby from 1979 to 2004 — would make an important announcement about his political future in front of his childhood Burnaby home. And Robinson said last month he was considering a political comeback.
It’s likely Robinson would seek to run in Burnaby North Seymour, that includes the old Burnaby North riding he represented for two of his seven terms as MP.
He also represented Burnaby and Burnaby Kingsway, as Burnaby has been diced into several ridings over the past 30 years.
Telford said the challenge for Robinson was that the new riding included parts of North Vancouver.
