Trump comes to Utica

Congressional candidate Claudia Tenney got a plug from a certain Republican leader during a fundraiser Monday: President Donald Trump himself.

The president visited Utica for the incumbent Republican’s fundraiser, his first visit to Central New York since becoming president.

“I have worked alongside our president to deliver tax cuts to middle-income families, secure our border, revitalize our manufacturing industry, and bring back jobs to our region,” Tenney said in a statement. “We are honored to have President Trump’s commitment to continuing to deliver real results for our region’s hardworking families, small businesses, family farms and veterans.’”

Trump landed at Griffiss International Airport. According to Tenney’s campaign, more than 125 supporters of Trump and Tenney were there to greet him.

At the fundraiser, Trump talked about his issues with a number of Democrats.

“I think Claudia is gonna do great,” said Trump at the fundraiser. “You gotta help her, you gotta make sure, because she is running against someone that is a total puppet of (House Minority Leader) Nancy Pelosi.”
