No 'Due Process' for Departing Staffer, POTUS Complains

The Story:
Rob Porter, White House Staff Secretary for the first year and two weeks of the Donald Trump administration, resigned that post recently when The Daily Mail ran a detailed story of the allegations of domestic violence by Porter’s two ex-wives.
The President’s Reaction:
President Trump has praised the former Staff Secretary, and has tweeted his unhappiness that “peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation.” POTUS asked in that tweet, “Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?”
One important sidebar to this story is the fact that Porter’s position required that he be cleared to handle classified material.
The Thing to Know:
With regard to security clearance, and the jobs that require it, there literally is “no such thing” as due process. Due process refers to procedural protections for substantive rights. No one has a right to any level security clearance: It is a privilege.
